Is a 29-year fire service veteran of both career and volunteer fire service organizations. After retiring as an Operations Battalion Chief, Mark now serves as a Fire Commissioner in King County, WA. Mark is a highly respected fire service professional with considerable experience as a writer, public speaker and trainer on numerous subjects throughout North America. He was selected as the 2013 George D. Post Instructor of the Year at FDIC and has been a Firehouse magazine Contributing Editor since 2005.
He has extensive experience developing and presenting Building Construction curriculum which includes development of the college curriculum for the State of Washington. He has served on numerous fire service committees locally and nationally and currently serves as the Western Director with the International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI) and the Region 10 Director of the National Fire Academy Alumni Association (NFAAA).
